Suggested Repeaters

Many, if not all, Colorado Repeater Systems are open and the users of those systems are most often found to be welcoming and helpful.

If you get lost, lose a frequency or whatever, find an active repeater and ask for help. You most likely will get it.

Feel free to use any repeater in the area outside of the actual balloon flight and tracking and recovery operations. Then, stick to one of these four machines.

Someone from EOSS should be monitoring the primary call in frequency of 448.450 MHz. This repeater as well as its two meter cousin 146.970 MHz are located at the summit of Pikes Peak. You can hit this machine from way up north, certainly the Denver area and way down south as far as Pueblo with no problems. Because these machines are on a mountain top the worst areas for reception are very close to and in the foothills.

Tracking and Recovery operations will be carried out on these same machines. Check out the Frequency Coordination spreadsheet/PDF to see which machines your group has been assigned to.
